Children?s Day is observed throughout the country on November 14 every year. The Day is observed to remind the state, the parents and the teachers of their duty towards children. It is the responsibility of not only the state, but every citizen to see that children grow up under a healthy and happy environment.
On the occasion of Children?s Day this year, the Indian Post & Telegraphs Department is happy to bring out a commemorative postage stamp depicting a painting by a child.

The First Day Cover depicts a painting titled ?Procession? done by 12-year old Kumari Sudha Reddy of Hyderabad. These paintings are reproduced by the courtesy of Shankar?s International Children?s Competition (1977). |
